Exhibition of Italian Contemporary Art

A roaming art exhibit of Italian contemporary art (both an outdoor and indoor exhibit) featured the artworks of both prominent and emerging Italian artists.  This exhibition was presented in various cities in the United States.  A committee, co-chaired by Gloria Porcella and Adele Rossetti, and including among others Paolo Picozza, President of the Fondazione Giorgio e Isa de Chirico, organized the exhibits.  The first installation was a major outdoor art exhibit of giant snails by the artists Cracking Art and placed in Central Park and Columbus Circle in New York City.

 

An Evening at the Spoleto Festival

A concert at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York was held on February 1, 2013 at which a screening premiere of “Amelia Goes to the Ball” by Gian Carlo Menotti and a solo performance by internationally-renowned flutist Andrea Griminelli were presented.  A dinner for the Friends of the Villa Firenze Foundation followed at the Columbus Townhouse during which the VFF Premio Giotto was awarded to Carla Fendi (Hononary Chairman of the Fendi Group) for Excellence in Business, Dedication to Philanthropy and Advocate for the Arts, and to Lawrence E. Auriana (Chairman of the Federated Kaufmann Fund) for Excellence in Business, Dedication to Philanthropy and Advocate for Italian Culture.  These events were under the patronage of His Excellency Claudio Bisogniero, Ambassador of Italy to the United States.

 

I Solisti di Perugia

A concert, which featured I Solisti di Perugia, was held at the Newseum in Washington, D.C.  on January 22nd 2011.  A dinner for The Friends of the Villa Firenze Foundation followed at the Congressional Country Club at which dignitaries of the Region of Umbria, Italy and "I Solisti di Perugia" were honored.  These events were under the patronage of His Excellency Giulio Terzi di Sant’Agata, former Minister of Italy for Foreign Affairs and former Ambassador of Italy to the United States.

 

The Italian Constitution on its 60th Anniversary

A commemorative book, “The Italian Constitution on its 60th Anniversary,” was published by the Villa Firenze Foundation in both English and Italian.  Among those who contributed articles to the book were His Excellency Giuliano Amato, former Prime Minister of Italy, and the Honorable Gaetano Silvestri, Justice of the Italian Constitutional Court.  The Preface of the book was written by His Excellency Giovanni Castellaneta, former Ambassador of Italy to the United States.

 

Italian Design in a Working Space

A book entitled “Italian Design in a Working Space” features the design and furnishings of the Embassy of Italy in Washington, D.C.  This book was made possible by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities in Washington, D.C. and was published by the Foundation.
